Super Mario RPG - Bundt by bassoonhero Super Mario RPG - Bundt by bassoonhero
Dear Nintendo,

PLEASE MAKE SUPER MARIO RPG 2!!! You guys keep talking about working closely with third-party companies, so please get together with Square-Enix and bang out a glorious Wii-U sequel and/or 3DS remake of the original. You have already granted my wish for a Luigi's Mansion sequel which will seriously never be forgotten, but there is another beyond excellent game of yours that has needed to be revisited for over 15 years. With the Paper Mario series now making its way to the 3DS, I would be overjoyed to see Super Mario RPG come back and take over as the console "Mario RPG" experience. To entice you to make this game, I have baked you a plush cake.

Best Wishes,
Michael W.

JENNA: *Poke, poke, poke!*
MICHAEL: Ouch, OUCH! Vat are you doing?!
JENNA: Chef Michael! The cake's MOVING!
MICHAEL: Vas?! Ist NOT moving! Back to verk!
JENNA: I KNOW it was moving!

*Ahem* We've made the most AMAZING cake! You won't believe it!!

This plush is close to 3 ft. tall of pure awesome, and was completely inspired by Rio McCarthy's own amazing Super Mario RPG Bundt cake [link]

Our plush took quite a few months of work for both Jenna and I to complete, and it was made for my older brother Steven's 25th birthday. My brother got me into video games when I was very young, and I owe him quite a bit for guiding my interests and introducing me to many of the series, characters, and companies that I've grown up to love so very much. Thank you wonderful brother, and happiest of birthdays!

JENNA: *Poke, poke, poke!*
MICHAEL: Ouch, OUCH! Now vat?
JENNA: Chef Michael! The cake's MOVING!
MICHAEL: Talk no more of zees!
JENNA: No! Really, truly. Why would I lie?
MICHAEL: Because you are…IDIOT! Zee! It IS NOT moving!
BOTH: … Huh?!
MICHAEL: Zee cake's alive! RUN!!
JENNA: See? I was RIGHT!

The pattern for this plush was drawn up completely by me, and as always was cut, sewn, and crafted together by both Jenna and I. Each layer is detachable and held together by velcro, and the bottom part, Rasberry, looks pretty cool on its own with all the colored poms we put on it. I'll put up some more pictures on my flickr sometime soon. Also, if ANYONE knows what the #$*! that blue thing is on Raspberry's side in concept art/sprite art ([link] [link]), I'll be forever grateful!

Now if only it was an actual cake
It probably wouldn't be to hard for a cake company to make

Also!  You wanted to know what the blue thing is near the bottom of Bundt, right?  I think it's a piece of candy?

Maybe this image will help:  www.meodia.com/wp-content/uplo…

Ahaha, I see!  :D

This is really great, by the way!  And yeah, I so wish Nintendo would give us another Mario RPG.  We need Mallow and Geno back.

I'd love to see them buy the characters, work with Square to make another game, or even just remake the original (I'd take anything at this point). Looking past Mallow and Geno (who are both incredible), there were SO MANY other new characters in this game introduced to the Mario world that have never been revisited, most likely due to them all being owned by Square. Frogfucius, Booster, Smithy, Croco, Belome, Mack, Jonathan Jones, Valentina and Dodo, Yaridovich, the Axem Rangers, etc. etc. etc. etc... Such a shame.

If you haven't already, consider purchasing the game on the Wii Virtual Console to show support for the title! If it ever gets re-released on the Wii U Virtual Console I know I'll snag it again the second it goes up. And for anyone reading this, give Nintendo direct feedback via Club Nintendo surveys (additional comments section) or politely emailing them to let them know there is still interest in this game!

I'm right there with you on that one. I first watched my older brother play through the game when it originally came out, and at the time I was pretty young. Something about a living cake, and the way it looked and moved reeeeeally creeped me out for some reason. It's since become one of my favorite gaming moments/scenes/bosses, but definitely freaked me out too as a kid.

This is epic; any other mario rpg characters you're thinking of making? I dunno know about you, but I always loved the Jawfuls. Seriously, what was up with those guys? Their existence doesn't seem to add up; I mean, where the hell did they come from? Where'd they go? If you make a cotton eye joe joke then I'm going to bite you XD

I'd also freaking kill for a snifit. No, seriously, I will wipe out an entire species of your choice if you make me a plush snifit. Any species, seriously, it can even be mosquitoes if you want. I would eat a car for one. I would curb stomp myself for one.

Thanks! No other SMRPG character plushes on our plate currently, we've got a huge multi-part project lined up that I've been slowly trying to get through for the past year, and I need to finish it!

IF I was to make another character, it would absolutely be either a Snifit or Booster himself. ...or the Axem Rangers.... or a giant Exor/Bowser's Castle plush.... or Johnny Jones... or a Tub-O-Troopa... or Belome... or Frogfucious....... etc. etc. etc. Seriously, when you think about it, there are just waaaaay too many fantastic characters to choose from in that game. If I had the talent, time, and child-slaves, I would love to make them all. Alas... :(

Thank you very much, he was a lot of work!

I grew up playing SMRPG as well and try to replay it as often as possible. There's really nothing else like it out there, and the game is never far from my thoughts. It holds an extremely huge place in my heart!

Very much agreed, though I'm a little biased, it was even the first real RPG I'd gotten into. Still end all my e-mails with the quote "May happiness follow you wherever you go.", thanks to Booster. XD

Hurray! It's one of my all time favorites, and in my opinion one of the absolute best and most original Mario games ever made. The world, environments, characters, bad-guys and bosses, storyline, battle system, etc. were all just so perfect and unique. I'm still really hoping a sequel will eventually be made, although it is indeed highly doubtful.

TECHNICALLY

Paper Mario is the sequel.

It was originally called 'Super Mario RPG 2'. But things happened, and I think that included Nintendo not being able to use Mallow and Geno anymore (except for cameos like in Superstar Saga with Geno).

You actually made Bundt! Such a hilarious boss fight, that game is kinda trippy when you think about it. Played it on the Virtual Console and I love it! On top of making RPG 2, Nintendo needs to get the rights for Geno and Mallow from Square. Those two epic characters are being wasted in Square's hands...

I agree completely, although I'm really not sure how ownership of those characters goes. I know Geno had a very small cameo in the original Mario & Luigi game for the GBA, and I don't believe Square had anything to do with it. They are both two of the best original characters that have shown up in a Nintendo game though, and it is a damn shame they haven't had the chance for future appearances.

They need to get both Mallow and Geno into the Super Smash Bros. series, they would be PERFECT. Mallow with his frog stick and Pikachu-like lightning moves, and Geno with his awesome cannon and star powers... It needs to happen...

Square does have the rights to those two, it says at the end of Superstar Saga that Geno is copyright to Square. Nintendo would have used them if they had them, I bet...

Oh god, I absolutely HATED this boss, if only for the fact that the first half of the battle, he doesn't take damage until you blow out the candles one at a time (IE, attack him enough times).

This plush really closely resembles him. You've got talent, bro.

The first time I played this game when it came out, it took me forever to figure out what I needed to do to beat him, but he's since become one of my absolute favorite boss battles of all gaming time. I just love all the scenes with Booster, Chef Torte and his Apprentice, and the town of Marrymore itself.

Thanks so much!
