Been a long time since I posted one of these, with a few more watchers since my Locoroco Plush feature on Kotaku & Destructoid, I figured it would be a good time to talk about some future ideas...
Right now Jenna & I are working on a kind of "Thank you" package to my personal favorite gaming publisher solely for being awesome and good peoples. We are making quite a few things for them, so it could take a while to get everything completed. Once we're done though and it's sent off, I'll be sure to post pictures of everything we made.
Afterwards, it will be time to start something new, and I've been going through about a thousand different ideas in my head of what to do next. I'll list pretty much all of my thoughts below, please feel free to read through any of them, then comment and share your opinions/suggestions on whatever.
PLUSH IDEAS:Clank Backpack from "Ratchet & Clank"This was priority #1 going into the summer, but has since taken quite a back-seat to many other things. I was planning on going to Comic-Con with Jenna and a few friends this summer, but we couldn't get tickets as I didn't know how freakin fast those things sell out. If we had, I was going to go all out and dress/paint up as Ratchet, and then having a Clank backpack on as well. It's still a really cool idea, one I would still LOVE to make happen (especially if E3 opens up to the public once again), but right now it's definitely not a priority. Still got all my drawings designs for how I want to do it, and whenever I do get the itch to go to a con or whatever, trust me, it will be amazing as I will settle for nothing short of it.
Mega Man/Proto ManI was originally thinking more 8-bit plushies of them but Jenna and I need to take a break making those for a while as they are just incredibly tedious to make. However I still think it would be cool to do something with them, as they are both pretty damn awesome characters.
Wacka from "Paper Mario" and/or Diglett-Dugtrio from "Pokémon"I love these characters, and think they would be awesome to do in plushie form because of their under-dirt and simple designs. BabyLondonStar recently did an INCREDIBLE Diglett plush and I would love to try and emulate the design to do my own...
BabyLondonStar.deviantart.com/…Patapon PlushiesThese were originally planned to go alongside my LocoRoco plushes, but I never had the time to get them conceptualized. I was originally imagining a way I could make a ton of easily designable base Patapon character plushes (with interchangeable eyes/expressions of course), and then make all the different weapons and helmets that could also be changed out on a whim. This is still one of my top ideas/priorities as I think if we could actually pull it off well, it would be amazing.
Rope Snake from "MOTHER 3"Straightforward and would be pretty easy I imagine. I would want it to be flexible with some type of wiring throughout the body, and then have the mouth able to open and close so it can latch onto things like in the game.
Pennington, the Penguin w/ the Improbably Large Brain from "Paper Mario: TTYD"My favorite character from TTYD, Google him, he's just a pretty bad-ass penguin with a magnifying glass.
Bender, Zoidberg, Planet Express Ship, and/or Brain Slug from "Futurama"I LOVE Futurama, my favorite TV show of all time. I would love to do something to honor the series, and think really well done plush (maybe chibi) versions of the characters, as well as the ship and some other things like the Brain Slug or Hypnotoad would really cool and fun.
Kirby Hats & OutfitsI already have the Kirby plush made, and my original intent was to make all of his various Super Smash Bros. costumes/hats that he could put on and take off. Still a really cool idea I would love to do, I'm just terrified of how I would go about making some of the outfits.
Alex & Luna from "Lunar: Silver Star Story/Silver Star Story Complete/Silver Star Harmony"My favorite gaming couple in RPG history, from one of my absolute favorite games of all time. I would just want to do character plushies of the two of them, pretty straightforward, but definitely not simple due to all the detail I would want to put into the both of them.
Scribblenauts PlushiesPretty much with these I wanted to make just a ton of different characters (not limited to just those from Scribblenauts) in "Scribblenaut form", and just have a bunch of different doll-type plushes.
The Prince from "Katamari Damacy"I was throwing around the idea of making a pillow of the head, or just a oversized head plush with a tiny dangling body. Not too original as I'm sure it's been done, but I thought it would be fun, colorful, and simple.
Balrog from "Cave Story"Been wanting do him for yeeeears, but just have never gotten around to it. Probably missed the "popularity boat" since it's already been released for WiiWare now and is pretty much out of the gaming news, but I would still like to get him made. Huzzah!
Jill from "Drill Dozer"I had her (as well as Balrog) on my previous post of plush ideas, and I still really want to make this happen. I want to make a giant Drill Dozer, and have her able to sit in it or exit from it whenever. It would be super complicated but really cool if I could make it happen, and I was also throwing around doing the same type of idea for a Magitech armor plush from FFVI.
NON-PLUSH IDEAS:Perler BeadsI've already got some and have been doing various little projects I'll probably post one day. They're very simple, and very fun to do pixelated art with. I would love to do some big famous classic game scenes though...
Painted Wooden Cube SpritesI had literally dreamed this idea up yeeeeears ago, got really excited about doing it, then found someone on the internet that of course (since I had just thought of it) "stole" my idea, had already executed it, and did it fan-freakin-tastically. Instead of me try and actually explain it, I'll just link you to that awesome jerk's year-in-advance mind reading webpage...
www.justinbevans.com/portfolio…*I've emailed Justin before, we've talked and laughed about all this so no I don't actually dislike him, he's an incredibly friendly and talented individual....who also happens to be a jerk for stealing my dream idea...
Felt "Paintings"Instead of sewing with material, I would love to cut a bunch of pieces out and put it together for a somewhat big, puzzly-felt-art piece that would depict a chosen game scene. Some ideas I've thought of are level 1-1 of Super Mario Bros., a Kirby Dream Land scene, a Dragon Quest scene, etc. Something somewhat cartoony and do-able.
And that's all I could currently think of, although I'm sure there is more!! Please leave any thoughts below, Jenna and I are very interested in seeing what everyone would be interested in seeing us make, and what you might think of any of our ideas.
